Selling a home is one of the biggest decisions people make, and they want to trust the person handling it. Before a seller has met you, they have usually seen your face: on your website’s team page, a valuation email, a Rightmove agent profile, a For Sale board or a leaflet through the door. That photo is doing a lot of work.
I photograph properties and people in Liverpool, so I see both sides of estate agency marketing. Here is why estate agent headshots matter, and how to get ones that help win instructions.
The short version
- People choose people. A warm, professional photo builds trust before the valuation.
- Approachable beats corporate for most agents. Aim for friendly and capable.
- Match the whole branch so your team page looks like one business.
- Use the same photo everywhere: website, email, portals, social and print.
- Update when you change your look or your branding.
Where agents use headshots
Online
Team pages, Google Business Profile, portal agent profiles, LinkedIn and valuation landing pages.
Email and messages
Email signatures and valuation follow ups. A face makes a follow up feel personal.
Leaflets, brochures and branch windows. Print shows every flaw, so quality matters.
Approachable, not stiff
Sellers and landlords want someone who is good at the job and nice to deal with. A stiff, arms folded, suit and tie pose can feel cold. A genuine smile, relaxed shoulders and a slight lean in says “I will look after you”. For mortgage and financial advisers, the balance tips a little more towards calm and assured, but warmth still matters.
Consistency across the branch
An estate agent’s team page often has every negotiator, valuer and lettings manager on it. If everyone’s photo was taken in a different place, it looks disorganised, which is the last impression you want. Photographing the whole team with the same background, lighting and crop fixes that, and new starters can be matched later. See matching headshots for new starters.

What to wear
Wear what you wear to a valuation. If your branch has branded clothing, bring it, and also bring a plain option in case it clashes. Solid colours photograph best. My guide on what to wear for a corporate headshot goes into more detail.
Office or studio?
Team headshots can be taken at your branch with a portable backdrop, which saves everyone travelling and keeps the day short. Some branches like a background that shows the office itself, which can feel local and personal. Team headshots at your office explains how the day works.
Property photos too
If you are booking headshots, it is worth thinking about your listings too. I shoot property photography and video in Liverpool, and it helps when your people and your listings share the same quality. The Rightmove photo order guide is a good place to start.
Questions agents ask
Why do estate agents need professional headshots?
Sellers and landlords choose agents they trust. A professional, approachable photo on your website, portal profiles, emails and print builds that trust before the valuation.
What makes a good estate agent headshot?
A warm, genuine expression, relaxed posture, clean background and clothing you would wear to a valuation, taken to match the rest of the team.
Can team headshots be taken at our branch?
Yes. I can set up a portable backdrop and lighting at your office so the whole team is photographed consistently without travelling.
How much do estate agent team headshots cost?
Individual headshots are £180. Branch and team days are quoted based on the number of people, the location and the setup.
