How to Get Reels, Photos and a Film From One Event

One event can fill your feeds for weeks. The trick is planning for it before the day, because the content you need for Instagram Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn, your website and a highlights film all wants something a little different from the camera.

I shoot event photography and videography in Liverpool for club nights, festivals, fight nights, conferences and launches, and this is how I plan a shoot so one booking gives you everything.

The short version

  • Decide the channels first. Reels and TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, website, press.
  • Vertical and landscape are shot, not cropped. Tell me you want both and I will plan for both.
  • Short clips need moments. Reactions, reveals, drops, walkouts and applause.
  • Book photo and video together. One plan, one crew, one consistent look.
  • Agree what you want fast. A teaser the next day keeps the buzz going.

Start with where it is going

Before anything else, list the places your event content will live. A club night might be all about Instagram Reels and TikTok. A conference might lean on LinkedIn, the website and a sponsor report. A launch might need press images on the night and a film for the next campaign. Knowing this shapes every decision on the day.

Vertical and landscape are different shots

A 16:9 film and a 9:16 Reel are framed differently. If you only shoot landscape and crop later, you lose the edges of the story and the quality drops. When I know you want both, I cover the key moments in both shapes, so the highlights film looks cinematic and the vertical cuts look made for the phone, because they were.

Short clips live on moments

A great Reel is built from a few big moments and a lot of energy. For a club night that is the drop, the crowd, the DJ’s reaction. For a fight night it is the walkout and the result. For a conference it is the laugh in the keynote, the applause and the busy networking room. Let me know the moments you know are coming and I will make sure I am ready for them.

Photos still do a lot of work

Photos carry your LinkedIn posts, press releases, website and next year’s ticket page. Plan for a mix: wide room shots that show the scale, speakers and performers, the people who matter, the details and the branding. A photo set in 24 or 48 hours means you can post while people are still talking about it.

A strong still can do as much work as any clip.

Book them together

When photography and video are planned as one job, nothing gets missed, the crew never gets in each other’s way, and the look matches across everything you post. It is also simpler for you: one brief, one contact, one delivery link.

Your social content plan

Before the day

  • Channels listed: Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, website, press
  • Vertical, landscape or both agreed
  • Key moments flagged with rough times
  • Logos or sponsor branding sent over
  • Delivery order agreed: teaser, photos, film

After the day

  • Teaser clip or first photos for social
  • Full photo gallery
  • Highlights film for YouTube and the website
  • Vertical cutdowns for Reels, TikTok and Shorts

Questions organisers ask

How many Reels can I get from one event?

It depends on the length of the event and what happens on the day, but most events give you several strong short clips plus a highlights film. We agree the number and the style when we plan the shoot.

Can you add our logo or a sponsor’s to the videos?

Yes. Send the logo over with what you need and I will build it into the edit, on the photos, the film and the vertical cuts.

Can we use the content in paid ads?

Your own channels are included: website, social, press and sponsor reports. If you want to put any of it behind paid advertising, we agree that up front and it is licensed on top.
