Celebrating the people and businesses of Liverpool & Merseyside since 2013
I'm Luke, a photographer and videographer in Liverpool
Plenty of people walk in as strangers and leave as friends.
Photography and video for actors, artists, performers, personal brands and businesses, from a first headshot to a full production. Shot in my studio on Maryland Street or on location across Liverpool, Merseyside and the North West.

Why I do this
Proud to be from Liverpool. Prouder to make work for the people in it.
Liverpool and the rest of Merseyside is full of vibrant people and businesses making things. Actors, musicians, dancers, brands and founders, right through to people crafting something for themselves or their company, or finding out how to with me. Backing those people and businesses with the work I do is the whole joy for me.
I didn't start out looking to get into marketing. It just came out of me after learning my craft, and working with and helping others. It's become a real passion to see what results for others when I use my imagination and tools to actually serve a purpose. To say and do something visually that doesn't just look professionally shot, but has authenticity, story and energy coming through the screen.
I'm actually a working actor too. Acting and shooting come from the same passion. I have to make things, and if I go too long without it I get restless. Captured By Luke Media is me transmuting that energy into helping other people get seen for the things they care about. Being part of that, and feeling like my skills are of service, is why I'm so dedicated to it. Helping others helps me, and it's rewarding to be a celebrator and creator for this great city and the great places surrounding it.
I have to create. It's in my blood.

On the day
I don't leave until we've got the one.
I've got a feel for the mood in a scene, what we want to say and who it's targeting. Then my brain fires: where the light should sit, how to direct someone so it looks like them at their best, composition, framing, atmosphere and what the edit needs to do. All of it is aimed at one thing, making the person who sees it feel or think something.
Images may be still, but intentional thought can make them move. Video's the same. Some videographers will light a nice looking image and call it a job done. I think there's more to it than that.
Some days that means filling memory cards. I'll tire myself out before I settle, because the buzz of getting the shot is hard to beat. Getting there is always fun, always a team effort and sometimes a bit silly. It's never formal. I take the vision seriously, but never myself.
I've never left a shoot day without nailing it, and you're only as good as your last job. The whole creative process runs on trust. You bring the idea, I bring the tools and the eye, and we build it together.
A lot of the people I've shot started out as strangers and are now friends I still make things with. I'm proud of that. Being vulnerable together is what makes golden content, and a friendship that lasts well beyond the shoot.
I take the vision seriously, but never myself.
After the shoot
The best feeling in the world is watching it land.
When an actor posts their new headshots and lands new roles, I'm on the sidelines clapping and rooting for them. When a musician, a dancer or a business puts their pictures out and the traction, engagement and compliments start rolling in, I take that as a compliment too.
It feels like I was part of their journey, and being a part of people growing and moving forward gives me a real sense of purpose.
In their words
What people say once the shoot's done
Taken straight from my Google reviews.
Luke is very dedicated to his craft and one of the hardest working people I know. His attention to detail and keen eye always shows in the quality of the final product. I'm always mesmerised by how stunning his lighting is in particular. He is very easy to work with, very reliable and will always ensure the best results.
I had the best experience with Luke! It was my first time getting headshots, he was so professional and made me feel at ease and I absolutely love the pictures. Would recommend him to anyone.

I'm genuinely interested in people. Tell me about you or your company, what makes you different, where you're heading and what you want to get out of it. The more I know, the more I can help. And if the idea isn't quite there yet, that's fine. I'll find it with you.
